Holy cow! The Lakers pulled off another victory again, beating another NBA elite team to go 2-1 now for the season. They could easily be 3-0 if they would have gotten that opening day victory over Houston, which came down to the wire and a late three pointer by Houston to win it. They beat the Utah Jazz 119-109 and had lots of support from the bench. Maybe the Lakers are sending Kobe a message.
Kobe lead the way with 33 points in the game and did it on 13 for 19 shooting but the bench really came through tonight, particularly Andrew Bynum and Jordan Farmer, especially in the fourth quarter. Bynum finished the game with 15 points, 11 in the fourth quarter. Farmer had 12 points and 4 assist. Assist came freely in this game as Luke Walton had 6, Fisher had 5, Bryant had 3 and even the big man Kwame Brown had 3. It was a Magic Johnson type of evening, sharing and giving. Fisher also had 19 points in the game, in his first game against his former teamates who he led last year to the Western Conference Finals. Kobe had a few words to say about Bynum and Farmer.
"I think having games like this, particularly against a team like Utah, which is very physical, I think it helps out his confidence a lot. He understands that he can do this against one of the elite teams."
Call it maturity if you will. Bynum turned 20 last week and at this pace will live up to his expectations. He received a standing ovation when he fouled out the game. So did Farmer when he checked out of the game. I don't care what anyone says, the Lakers are making a beleiver out of me, hopefully it's not just a tease. Just think, they are doing this without Lamar Odom! Bring on San Antonio, Dallas or Deteroit. The Lakers are like Uncle Sam right now, 'They Want You'. What did the Phoenix coach say a couple days ago,"theres three more to go". Don't look too forward to it Rick.
