OK, now I'm getting worried! The Lakers lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-95 at Staples Center to extend their winning streak to 3 games, matching their season high losing streak. Andrew Bynum come back! Wish it were that easy but we all know that Bynum will be out quite a while longer and the Lakers are going to have to learn to win without him. Honestly, if you really think about it, Kobe Bryant is always a contender at seasons end for the league MVP award because he is such a great player. But is he the Lakers MVP? Probably not, that award has got to go to Andrew Bynum and we are all witnessing lately how true that is.
The Lakers did not play terrible in this game it was just a couple mistakes but those couple of mistakes cost the game. The game went down to the wire and the Lakers needed a three pointer to send the game into overtime. We have one of the best ever on our team for this kind of situation, Mr. Kobe Bryant, the problem was that Kobe was never able to get the shot off. The play was designed to give Kobe a three point shot from the top of the key but he was forced to pass. Luke Walton ended up with the ball and had to get off the shot but kind of fumbled the ball and passes back to Kobe and that was the game. After the game Walton knew that he messed up and should have shot it but should haves, would haves and could haves don't really matter. Coach Phil Jackson was quick to point out that the game was not lost on that sequence.
The game was probably lost due to the great play of Lebron James who scored 41 points (16-32) for the Cavs and hit some crucial shots toward the end of the game. It was the 5th straight win for Cleveland over Los Angeles.
Kobe Bryant finished the game with 33 points going 10-21 from the field.
Making this loss worse was the fact that the Lakers entered the 4th quarter with a 9 point lead 84-75. OK, I see a 5 game winning streak coming now - I hope.
