Oh the battle of LA! Well, sort of. The Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA this season. The Clippers are just, well, one of the worst. Wasn't it just yesterday that we were talking about a possible hallway playoff series between the Lakers and the Clippers. Not this year! The Clippers will not even make the playoffs. In the Clippers defense though, they are without their best player Elton Brand and he is not returning anytime soon. To make matters worse for them, they had no Chris Kaman to make things a bit more challenging for Pau Gasol tonight.
The Clippers came out looking good against the Lakers but the Lakers used a 12-3 run to finish the first quarter to take a 29-21 lead and then led at the half 56-48. By the time the third period ended the game was pretty much over as the Lakers had a 18 point lead 90-72. The game ended with the Lakers winning it 113-95 led by Pau Gasol's 23 points. Lamar Odom who has been looking great lately had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kobe Bryant took it easy tonight going 7-9 from the field, good for 17 points.
The Clippers were led in the game by Corey Maggatte who had 23 points and Tim Thomas who had 20 points. The Clippers were trying to extend their two game winning streak to three. It was their first two game winning streak since opening the season 4-0.
