Lakers 117 - Magic 113

Despite the Lakers giving up a staggering 44 points in the first quarter they were still able to lead the Orlando Magic by 1 point 64-63 at the half thanks to Kobe Bryant and the new kid on the block Pau Gasol. Kobe had 36 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assist in the game while Gasol went 12-15 from the field, scored 30 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Lakers couldn't have had more use for their new 1-2 punch as much as tonight as this game went down to the wire. Defense at the end of the game secured the win for the Lakers as Orlando's Rashard Lewis tried to tie it up with his shot with about 17 seconds left but Lamar Odom blocked his shot and the Laker's gained possession to put the game in the refrigerator. Lamar Odom had 12 points and shot 5-5 from the field. Derek Fisher had 14 points in the game.

For Orlando it was a disappointing loss. They are the division leaders in the South-East division and now have a 32-20 record with this loss. They lead Washington by 6.5 games. Dwight Howard had 19 points and 11 rebounds in the game and Rashard Lewis had 16.

This win over Orlando was a great win for the Lakes. Next up for the Lakers will be the Shaq less Miami Heat on Sunday, Shaq of course is now a Phoenix Sun.
