Lakers 102 - Mavericks 100

Were the Lakers lucky or what! This game against the Dallas Mavericks was a must win for the Lakers. The Lakers have lost three of their last four games and another loss would not have done very good for their mind sets. They came out on a surge and completely dominated the Dallas Mavericks during the first half of the game. Not just dominate but actually embarrassed the Mavericks. It got so bad that some people at the game were booing the Mavs and chanting MVP for Kobe. Funny how that seems to be happening at many road games this season. Guess everyone feels he deserves one finally after all these years, especially this year. The Lakers built a giant lead on the Mavericks and led the game by 25 points midway through the third quarter. Good old Chicky baby would have been getting ready to put this one in the refrigerator but then something happened. All of a sudden Mr. Momentum changed jerseys. The Mavericks ended the third quarter on a 14-1 run then opened the fourth with a 9-2 run. They pushed at the end of the game as Dirk Nowitski hit back to back three pointers with 41 seconds left in regulation and all of a sudden the Lakers were only up by one point 98-97. Then with 4.9 seconds left in the game Jason Terry hit a three to make it 101-100, still in the Lakers favor. Fisher then made one of two free throws which gave Dirk Nowitski one final shot to go for the win or tie the game up and take it into overtime. He went for the three but missed by a mile, luckily for the Lakers. If they would have lost this one it would have been one of the hardest heart breakers ever. Thank goodness things worked in the Lakers favor.

Nowitski ended the game leading the Mavericks with 35 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Howard had 19 points for the Mavericks.

Kobe Bryant finished the game with 29 points. Lamar Odom had 17 points and 17 rebounds. Seems like Lamar has been doing a great job on the boards lately.
