Lakers 100 - Grizzlies 99 * Lakers extend winning streak to 6 games!

The Lakers barely escaped the Memphis Grizzlies and came out on top for their 6th straight victory as they beat the Grizzlies 100-99.

The Lakers had a comfortable 10 point lead at halftime 61-51 and that lead stood at 10 by the end of the 3rd 80-70 but the 4th quarter was a different story. Little by little the Grizzlies chipped away into the Lakers lead and actually took the lead with 5 minutes left in the game off of a Kyle Lowry driving layup which put Memphis up 88-87. Kobe tried to come back with a three pointer but missed. An offensive rebound by Luke Walton gave the Lakers another chance to take the lead but Kobe missed another jump shot. With 4:06 left Kobe did make a layup though to give the Lakers the lead back. Didn't last long though because Mike Miller came right back and hit a 3 pointer giving Memphis a 2 point cushion. A Fisher layup tied it up 91-91 and the lead went back and forth a few more times. With 1:02 left Kobe put the Lakers up 97-96 by hitting both of his free throws then with 38 seconds left in the game making a driving layup putting the Lakers up by three. Memphis called a time out and out of the time out Rudy Gay came out and hit a three tying the game up 99-99. Kwame Brown went to the free throw line with 9 seconds left in the game but was only able to hit one of the two free throws giving Memphis a chance to win the game with a simple field goal. With three seconds left Kyle Lowry missed a driving layup and some thought that he got fouled and Hakim Warrick got the offensive rebound and with one second left missed his three point attempt.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 37 points and may need to continue scoring like that if Andrew Bynum does not get better quick. Andrew Bynum played 20minutes in the game but had to leave the game with a sprained left knee. Bynum, Odom and Farmar each scored 10 points in the game.

Mike Miller led Memphis with 27 points.

The Lakers are now 25-11 and with their victory over Memphis remain only 1/2 game behind the Phoenix Suns for the Pacific Division lead.
