Kobe Bryant was sick tonight. That does not mean 'Sick" in a good way. He was fighting a respiratory infection and you could see it in his face. That didn't slow him down though, as he scored 37 points to lead the Lakers to a 110-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Lakers have now won 15 of their last 18 games. The three losses came against Golden State, Cleveland and Boston with the Celtic loss being the one true loss, basically, they didn't have a chance. In the game against the Warriors they lost 108-106 thanks to Baron Davis and Cleveland was barely able to escape the Lakers. The Lakers could have easily won 17 out of their last 18 games. With the win tonight the Lakers are now 24-11 and are only 1/2 game behind the Suns for the Pacific Division lead. It was the Lakers 5th win in a row, a season high. Four times this season the Lakers have had a four game winning streak.
Kobe led all scorers in the game with 37 points. Andrew Bynum had another fantastic game and finished the game with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Farmar had 13 points and Walton had 10.
The Lakers led 54-50 at halftime and had a hard time putting the Bucks away who kept fighting. Milwaukee was led by M. Williams who had 28 points and M. Redd who came off of the bench and had 22.
The Lakers have been making conversations lately. Everywhere you talk to someone or read, we are all hearing how the Lakers are the surprise this season. One must realize though that anytime you have a superstar-player like Kobe Bryant and surround them with talent or a second option (which Bynum has turned into) you automatically have a great and contending team. Yes, the Lakers have surprised many. But should we really be surprised?
