Well the Lakers-Rockets showdown is over and I was wrong. We didn't end the Houston Rockets winning streak, they now have a 22 game winning streak after beating the Lakers 104 -92. I could say that the only reason the Houston Rockets won is because Pau Gasol was not able to play in the game but I won't go there, a win is a win and I give the Rockets full credit for their victory though I know if Pau played the streak would be over. OK, enough of that.
Houston started this game looking good and took control of the game early. They lead 59 -44 at the half even though Tracy McGrady had not scored one point in the first half. The Lakers came out on a surge in the second half to go on a 12 -0 run and pull with in three points and things were looking like they were going to get better. They held the Rockets to only 12 points in the third quarter and trailed going into the fourth quarter 71 -66. In the fourth quarter every time the Lakers pulled with in a couple of points the Rockets protected their lead and the Lakers never really caught them. One main reason was Rafer Alston who had a 31 points and hit 8 three pointers in the game. Both career highs and a perfect time for him to have a career game.
Kobe had a not so good game. He had 24 points but it took him 31 shots to get those points. Some will say Shane Battier's tough defense was the cause. Boy, people sure like to make things up don't they. When will some people understand that Kobe is unstoppable, no defense can stop a player like Kobe. He just had a bad game, it had nothing to do with Battier. Lamar Odom had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Rockets Alston led them with 31 points. Bobby Jackson had 19 points off of the bench.
This was a very disappointing loss for me. The Rockets seemed very cocky and seemed to me to think that they are better than what they are. I mean geez, they were acting like they just won the NBA championship when they're lead was out of reach for the Lakers.
For the first time in my life, I will be rooting for the Boston Celtics when they play Houston, which is the Rockets next opponent. GO CELTICS! Show these guys that they are not one of the NBA's elite! They are not with the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Suns or Spurs. The top 5 teams in this league!

You're right - you shouldn't go there about Gasol being out. The rockets had their best player out, and still got the "W".
As a long time Laker fan living in Houston, I always get excited when the Lakers come to town. My family and I sat eleven rows behind the Laker bench at the game. We were all disappointed at the result of the game.
To be fair, the Rockets were without Yao Ming, so we can't say they had an unfair advantage. With the way Houston has been playing they may have very well beaten us if we had Pau. Their team looks really good.
I also have to disagree with you about the Rockets being cocky. I watch the Houston sports news and none of the players come off as arrogant or cocky. They know the streak will end sometime. My personal prediction is the Celtics will end it too.
Go Lakers!!! If we can all be healthy come playoff time, the rest of the NBA better watch out!
After beating the Lakers the Rockets lost to the Celtics and then New Orleans and are currently riding a 2 game losing streak. The Rockets winning off of confidence, not a bad thing of course but I just don't see them even getting past the first round of the playoffs, especially how tough the West is this year.
